Check that the company handles the job you need

A plumber addresses the heater and its connections. A restoration contractor assesses and dries the resulting water damage. Some projects also require separate repairs after drying. Ask each company to identify its part of the job before signing.

Describe whether the water is confined to a utility area or has reached finished rooms. Ask about water extraction, moisture assessment, material removal and monitoring. A useful answer explains the likely first steps and what still needs to be inspected, rather than promising a fixed result by phone.

Verify the company and the people attending

Ask for the business name, contact details, evidence of insurance and relevant water restoration training. Confirm who will be at your property and who will supervise the work. If the company describes a certification, ask what it covers and check it with the issuing organization.

For home improvement work, use the Pennsylvania Attorney General’s contractor verification resource where registration applies. Registration alone is not an endorsement of skill. Read recent customer comments for the kind of work involved, and ask for references when you need more context.

Ask how drying will be checked

  • Which rooms and materials will you inspect for moisture?
  • What records will show the initial conditions and progress?
  • How will you decide whether material can be dried or needs removal?
  • When will you return to monitor the equipment?
  • What happens if moisture levels are not improving?
  • What will I receive when the drying work is complete?

These questions help you understand the plan before equipment fills the room. A contractor should also explain how you can use the space during drying and whom to call if equipment stops. Our drying guide describes what affects the schedule.

Evaluate preferred vendors and independent companies fairly

An insurer, plumber or neighbor may suggest a company. A referral can help you find someone available, but it does not replace reviewing the scope and contract. Ask whether a vendor program offers any specific billing or workmanship arrangements and get those terms in writing.

If you prefer another company, tell your insurer and ask how contractor selection, estimate review and payment work under your policy. Do not assume that a referral guarantees payment, or that an independent contractor’s entire invoice will automatically be approved.

If you would like Restoration 365 to handle your cleanup, call us to discuss the damage and let your insurer know which company you are considering. We document our work with photos, moisture readings and scope notes to support the claim process. Your policy and insurer determine coverage.

Read the work authorization before signing

Confirm the services authorized, rates or estimate basis, payment responsibilities and procedure for extra work. Check whether the agreement includes drying only or repairs too. Ask for a copy that you can keep and a written explanation of any term you do not understand.

Be cautious about pressure to sign unexplained documents or promises to control the insurer’s decision. If a document transfers claim rights or gives another party authority over payments, ask your insurer or a qualified adviser to explain its effect before agreeing. You should understand whom you are hiring and what you owe.

Why choose Restoration 365 for your cleanup?

We help you deal with the damage a leaking water heater leaves behind. From our Willow Grove base, our crew has served homeowners in all 12 communities featured here, as well as other nearby areas.

  • An IICRC-certified firm. Our team and credentials are available to review before you hire us.
  • A plan based on your home. We assess affected materials, explain extraction and drying, and discuss any necessary removal before proceeding.
  • Drying checked with moisture readings. We monitor progress and adjust equipment as conditions change. The work follows the readings, not just how dry the surface looks.
  • Records of the work. Photos, readings and scope notes document the damage and cleanup, including information useful during an insurance claim.

See a local water-heater drying project and our cleanup process. A plumber handles the heater repair or replacement; we handle water removal, structural drying and necessary wet-material removal.

Tell us what happened. We will help you plan the cleanup.

Call with your address, whether the leak has stopped and where the water has spread. We will discuss the next steps and current arrival estimate. Emergency phone service is available 24/7. If the damage is stable and you prefer a callback, send us a message.
